Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using StorageBuddy (“the Service”) operated by StorageBuddy, 314 University Drive, Pinelands, South Africa (“we”, “us”, or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

StorageBuddy is an AI-powered inventory management platform that allows users to catalogue physical storage boxes using QR codes and photo analysis. Features include photo upload, AI-generated item summaries, QR label printing, team collaboration, and search.

3. Accounts and Access

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, or have parental consent, to use the Service.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Plans and Billing

StorageBuddy offers the following plans, priced in South African Rand (ZAR) and processed via Paystack:

  • Free — No charge. Includes 1 collection, 20 boxes, and 1 member.
  • Standard — R99/month. Includes 3 collections, 30 boxes, and 1 member.
  • Pro — R249/month. Unlimited collections, boxes, and members.
  • One-Off Event — R795 once-off. Unlimited collections, boxes, items, and members, valid for 90 days.

Recurring plans are billed monthly. You authorise us to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Plan limits are enforced automatically; attempts to exceed them will prompt an upgrade flow.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access to your paid plan features until that date. For the One-Off Event plan, cancellation terminates access immediately and the 90-day period is not extended or paused.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Upload content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or infringes on third-party rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload the Service.
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of all photos, notes, and data you upload to StorageBuddy (“User Content”). By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display it solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use your User Content to train AI models or share it with third parties, except as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. AI Features

StorageBuddy uses AI (powered by Anthropic) to generate item summaries, tags, and search content from your photos. AI output is provided for convenience and may not be perfectly accurate. You are responsible for reviewing and, where necessary, correcting AI-generated content before relying on it.

9. Intellectual Property

All rights in the StorageBuddy platform, including its software, design, trademarks, and branding, are owned by StorageBuddy or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you other than the limited right to use the Service as described here.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StorageBuddy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StorageBuddy and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your breach of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 15) shall survive.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
